Shortcut Trip: Lynn Canyon Park and Suspension Bridge

It's July! I can't believe it. We're more than halfway through the year and the first of June also marks Canada Day! Canada hits 145 years today. July 1st actually celebrated the enactment of the British North American Act, which unified the three colonies into one country called "Canada".

So, in celebration of Canada Day, I wanted to share this wonderful spot in North Vancouver, Lynn Canyon. Lynn Canyon Park is a great place fo picnics, hiking, and even swimming holes! The last time I was here, C and I just went for a leisure hike since I had never been to Lynn Canyon. So we packed up a couple of sandwiches, water and granola bars and set off for the day! It was about 20 minutes drive from Vancouver, so it's definitely not a long drive. It's definitely lesser known than the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but it's a great place to go. You should all check it out!

This was the entrance to the Lynn Canyon! Just being greeted by the tall greenery felt very welcoming.

Parking is available around the park, and it does become busy quickly! So, do come early.

They also have this wooden piece of architecture housing the cafe, the ranger centre and washrooms.

There's a number of trails at the Lynn Canyon Park, but to be honest I can't remember which one we took! Taking a look at this map, for sure we went through the suspension bridge and we headed to the Twin Falls Bridge, and somehow, we made our way back!

Here we are at the entrance to the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge! Be sure to take a picture with this sign! :)

There was a number of people on the bridge and I had to stop to urge from jumping up and down the bridge to just see other people's reactions (haha!) But I still thought it was fun to go through it. As you can see, Lynn Canyon can be a family-friendly destination! :)

When we first arrived at the Lynn Canyon Park, the first thing I heard was the rushing of water. I love the sound of rushing water / falls / sea / rain (and my friends would attest to this!). And we were greeted by this beautiful breathtaking view in the middle of the suspension bridge.

After crossing the bridge we turned right (heading south). If we headed north, we would hit the 30-foot pool which is quite popular especially during summer time as it is a great place for picnic and it also has a swimming hole! Maybe sometime soon I shall revisit and share some photos!

What greeted us heading south were trees, trees and more trees! The trails were well-maintained, and as an leisure trail it wasn't very steep or hard at all. Once in a while we would find stumps of trees like this one, and I wonder how it even got to be like this! I enjoyed taking pictures of the many textures I saw on the trees!

The Twin Falls trail goes beside by the river, which was just absolutely beautiful. The rushing waters and the greenery - was just a perfect location for reflection and painting. I shall head back again one day to paint this beautiful scene! It's not every day that I get to experience this beauty (although technically, I could!) and I couldn't help but just praise God for His wonderful creation.

Because I kept stopping to take photos, it took us longer than usual to get to Twin Falls. Haha! It should take about 15-20 minutes. Nevertheless, we arrived!

Here's the first part of the twin falls and then the other side shows the second half. Isn't it just marvelous?

I hope I had somehow convinced you to go! Another interesting place to visit in Lynn Canyon is the Eco Centre, where they show how the ecosystem works in this part of the world.

After that, C and I went and took other lesser known trails just around the area and finished our hike after 4 hours. There was just so much to see!

And of course we finished quite hungry, so we headed home and took out the BBQ and started grilling two humongous burgers:

And they were very juicy bacon and cheese burgers! So much for the calories we burned on the hike. Oh well!
