Manila and HK 2018

Time is truly flying by and I cannot believe it’s been 3 months since we got back from our Asia trip! I had to make sure I blogged before I forget everything about it!

Flight

Flying with a 3 month old is a little crazy, but not impossible! We were so blessed to be able to go on this trip after the craziness that happened to us a week before our trip, that we had to postpone our trip 5 days later. And seriously, it was so good for our souls. It bonded us together as a family of 3.

We flew red-eye and direct to Manila to avoid troubles of laying over in another airport. Chase was incredible on the flight. Since he stayed up much later than usual from his bedtime, he was able to sleep on the 13-hour plane ride, pretty much for the entire thing. When he was awake, he was smiling and saying hello to all the passengers on the plane. Cried for a total of 2 minutes. Mommy was able to sleep, but daddy barely slept, worrying about the two of us, lol! We fed and used the pacifier for both the take-off and the landing, but since he was sleeping during take-off, we didn’t bother waking him up. We did get a bassinet for Chase - even if you request this, it’s not a guarantee that you will get it. Typically, it’s based on the age of all the babies on the flight - and since he was second to the youngest and we were in the bulkhead seat, we were able to get it. We took PAL to Manila, and their bassinets are large and spacious. But I cannot imagine a 6 month old baby that can sit up to fit in the bassinet or even want to stay in it, it’s definitely just for the youngest of babies. But everytime there was turbulence, you needed to take the baby out and hold on to your baby. Definitely not the most relaxing of sleeps! We also found out in Asia, that if you gate-checked your stroller, it would not be at the gate when you arrive. It would arrive in the baggage carousel.

Arriving in Manila

We arrived in Manila around 6 in the morning, tired, and our car seat missing. Someone had picked it up as we had the exact same bag. We noticed it when we saw a similar bag but with a different tag, and no one had picked it up. Then, when we inquired and called, turns out they had taken our car seat (which was odd, because their car seat was for a toddler while we had an infant car seat). Gratefully, the airline was able to arrive delivery back to our house that same day. In Manila at that time car seats were not required, so we didn’t bother putting him on. Chase was more than excited to be out of the car seat anyway. It was so wonderful to see my sis Krisha, my parents, my long-time nanny Yaya Sylvia - who had been watching me since I was 3 years old.

While setting up Chase’s location for a nap, turns out his room was super bright and the AC in the room had died, so we had to switch Chase to my parents’ bedroom. The tiniest person slept in the biggest bedroom, haha!
