Tofino Babymoon Trip 2022 Day 1

Tofino Babymoon Trip 2022 Day 1

Just a few weeks left before we meet baby sister! So my little family and I went on a little baby-moon just us to spend some one-on-one time together as a family of 3. I personally have never been to Tofino despite living in Vancouver for over 10 years already, and we’re so glad we finally went! The trek to Tofino is definitely on the longer side but it’s definitely worth it.

Day 1: Getting to Tofino

We took the ferry from Tsawwassen which goes to the Duke Point Terminal in Nanaimo. It takes about 2 hours to get there. We took the Tesla this time around and so we packed up some lunch (yummy spam musubi!) because right after the terminal we headed to the Tesla Supercharger. It was pretty awesome and quick. In that same complex there’s Walmart, Save on Foods so if you need to pick stuff up, I’d recommend to get it here (or Port Alberni, whichever you prefer!). We had brought most of our stuff so we didn’t need to make much of a stop, but of course C and Chase had to check Walmart for some Hot Wheels. Then, we started the 2.5 hour drive to Tofino from the charger. There’s still construction along Highway 4, which delayed us about 15 mins.

We were told how windy the road was to Tofino, so we told Chase we weren’t going to watch much TV on that drive. Internet/Signal was pretty spotty throughout, too so we couldn’t really listen to music. He wasn’t too pleased but then at least he got a decent nap in after reading a couple of Richard Scarry books - we love these books because they have so many random things in it that make him laugh.

Finally around 4PM, we made it to Tofino! Our first stop was Tacofino which we already knew would be quite a bit of a wait, especially since they close at 6PM. At 4PM we still had to wait around 45 mins just to order and another 20-30 mins for the food. Internet/signal is definitely spotty throughout but that’s okay, we got to enjoy delicious food together. The Baja taco was just normal but I really liked the Tuna Tataco!

After that we headed to our resort, Ocean Village, where we got a upper level studio suite overlooking the ocean. We also enjoyed walking around the beachfront and checking out all the amenities - they have an indoor pool and hot tub, fire pits, access to Mackenzie beach, and it was a great family environment. Our studio cabin had a big sofa bed so Chase thought it was so cool to sleep in a sleeping bag for extra coziness. We only had a bar fridge though which ended up being Chase’s favorite thing, since now he can access the fridge very easily for everything. Haha!

Then, we decided to head to “downtown” Tofino 730ish only to find out that the town pretty much is closed by 8! Haha, all good - we decided to go for a little walk and got to see a beautiful sunset and get a family picture together. The best thing about travelling at this age is that bedtime pretty much doesn’t matter so much so we just all slept around the same time. Ocean Village’s beds were super comfy, so we all had a great rest that night.

xoxo,
